Fairvue Design creates attractive, usable, accessible sites using our thorough knowledge of Web standards. Let us share our creativity with you to shape your site into an effective work of art.
Youmacon is Metro Detroit's first and only Japanese animation convention. Their debut site uses firey colors that compliment the logo design, and that design is implemented across the entire site, including the forums.
As usual, this site was designed with XHTML for structure and CSS for design. The menu mouseovers and highlights are done entirely with CSS; no JavaScript was used anywhere on the site. Users of more standards-compliant browsers see extra design enhancements, such as bold first letters at the beginning of each page section.
Fairvue is responsible for the design coding, graphics (excluding artwork and photography, which were adapted to the Web by Fairvue), and forum maintenance of this site.
Youmacon's logo includes bold letters that are adaptable to the changing years, and carries over the fire-like theme that the convention's original logo established.
52 pages of material were published as a guide for the convention's attendees. Unlike most conventions, Youmacon uses a 5½"×8½" size which makes it easier to pocket. The schedule listed all aspects of the con together in one grid, and was located at the back of the guide to be easily located. Also easily located were the blank autograph pages in the center of the guide.
